What is your position on pornography? It is legally protected expression. Would you limit the protection?

Pornography may come in many means of media such as photos, printed literature, movie, video clips, animation, games, etc. When we talk about pornography, most people will feel uneasy because it is a sensitive issue to them as it concerns about explicit sexual subject matter for sexual excitement purposes. However, some people enjoy porn and think that it is a kind of entertainment and education to them.

From my point of view, I think pornography is okay. It is a legally protected expression, but I think there should be some limit to it. Pornography is a way for some people to express themselves and it is consider an art. It is individual’s freedom to make or watch porn. For some unfortunate or should I say fortunate (depending on which side you stand) countries like Sri Lanka, their government totally blocked all porn websites, where I think that it is a bit too much.

Even though porn is a legally protected expression, there should be some limit to it. For me, it cannot be 100% protected or 100% not protected. If there’s no limit, then everyone can access to porn, even young children who are curious. It would then cause problems to the society where young children will start having sexual relationship at a very young age due to curiosity. I would stand on the position where pornography is legally protected but with some limit.

  1. I would also stand on the position where pornography is legally protected but with some limit. It actually depends on the individual him/herself. We choose what we want to see so we are therefore, responsible for it. Pornography might not be decent but somewhat it is quite widely acceptable in today's world. It has its good and bad side to it, yes. Underage children should be ban entirely from watching pornography. Parents should know this and prepare what's necessary for their children.

  2. I support what you said Fiona. Pornography should be legally protected with some limits but not totally banned. Pornography is an art and also education towards some of the adults but not available for children which is underage. All the parent should think about their children's future. Some of them take it slightly and that is why they spoiled their own children.
